We are delighted to welcome Sandy Lindop to the Crescendo Music Loft teaching staff!
Sandy will begin teaching at Crescendo on Friday, June 19, and she will have Friday lesson availability going forward. To help students and families get to know her, we are offering 30-minute trial lessons with Sandy for $65 over the next couple of weeks.
Sandy is a jazz-influenced pianist and vocalist originally from San Francisco, California. She brings more than ten years of professional teaching and performance experience to Crescendo, along with a warm, creative, and highly musical approach to working with students.
Her musical background is wonderfully varied. Sandy has performed with several groups, including the SF Mission Hot Club and Dirty Cello, and she has also managed and performed with The Muted Jewel Tones, an all-female vocal harmony trio. In addition, she has sung with The Merrie Old Christmas Carolers, the world’s oldest and largest professional caroling organization.

Sandy performs classic jazz standards from the 1920s through the 1960s, blending them with modern pieces and original songs. Her style has an old-soul charm — the kind of music that feels right at home in a cozy jazz club, a candlelit cocktail hour, or, as her bio so perfectly puts it, “your grandma’s favorite speakeasy.”

Sandy’s musical journey began early. She joined a children’s choir at age four and soon began private vocal lessons, training as an opera singer. She performed with local opera companies and choirs throughout her early years, eventually earning a place in the Vocal Department at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts High School in San Francisco. It was there that Sandy discovered her love for jazz.
She continued her education at Humboldt State, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in vocal and piano performance.
At Crescendo, we are especially excited about the range of perspective Sandy brings as both a pianist and vocalist. Her experience in jazz, classical voice, ensemble singing, songwriting, and performance gives students many different doors into musicianship.
We are also continuing to build a more collaborative teaching culture at Crescendo, where students can benefit from the strengths and perspectives of our whole faculty. Even students who are already happily working with a teacher may enjoy an occasional lesson with another instructor. A fresh perspective can spark new ideas, reinforce concepts in a different way, and help students become more flexible, confident musicians.
