Chart for July Tree

July Tree Chart

I asked John to write a chart for Eowyn O’Hara who wanted to sing this song in a higher key than Nina Simone’s, and here is the email message to me along with the very lovely chart. – Sandy Connolly

Great arrangement, this chart does not do it justice.

The Csus only really happens the first time thru, but it’s implied every other time, if you ask me. After the fermata(s), the music kind of ramps up to a tempo, but I’m sure you guys would know that already. I’m just not sure how to write a tempo ramp up.

I also put the II – V where it might go straight to the V, but it’s hard to hear what the bass player is doing.

There were cocktails involved when I transposed it – not sure if that hurt or helped!
