Sessions
June 8, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 10:30 pm
We’ve got another great line-up of music for your listening pleasure. As always, it’s BYOB. And bring a pot luck dish to share as well, if you’d like.
6:30 — Les Tordus
Photo coming up!
Blurb: Les Tordus (Lay Tor-doo) plays upbeat French-Canadian and old-time music. Tordus is a French word for bent, crooked, off-kilt … and so is our music.
7:00 — Joe Stein
Joe Stein is a singer who accompanies himself on the keys, often creating his own arrangements of a wide range of rock, pop, folk, jazz, and R&B songs and infusing both older and more con-temporary music with his own unique spin. He also plays the trumpet, often sitting in with variety of local bands in the Shoreline music scene, and he plays 1st trumpet in the Yale Medical Symphony Orchestra. Joe lives with his wife and daughter in Branford, where he teaches in the Branford public school system.
7:30 — Mary Lou Fusi & Bianca Miranda
Photo coming up!
Mary Lou Fusi & Bianca Miranda will be sporting newly acquired music chops this night backed by Dave Geisler (guitar), Ted Ervin (bass), Justin Paglino (keys), and Peter Magnotti (drums). They’ll be covering Joni Mitchell and Des’ree among others.
8:00 — Living With Robots
Sandy Connolly (vocals, guitar) and Ted Ervin (bass, vocals) play a blend of blues, rock, and Americana. Tony Cafiero (not a robot keyboard player) will be sitting in with us this night! They cover The Wood Brothers, Lucinda Williams, Rickie Lee Jones, Gretchen Wilson, Fiona Apple, and Tom Waits.
8:30 – 9:00 Break
9:00 — Jethro Tom & The Aqualungs
Photo coming up!
Tom Knapp devised this month’s one and-done act as Jethro Tom and the Aqualungs. Tom; vocals, flute guitar; Ted Ervin, bass; Justin Paglino, keys; Steve Plaziak, guitar, & Joe Pecoraro, drums. They’ll cover a 30-minute mix of vintage Tull. A “Thick as a Brick” act that will be a crowd pleaser.
9:30 — Repeat Offenders
While Forrest Gump’s mom said that you never know what you’re gonna get, you can always count on the Repeat Offenders to deliver a sinewy blend of roots music (vintage blues, rockabilly, country and rock & roll).
10:00 — Matt Bennett
Matthew Bennett is a diverse singer/songwriter. His songs are fun, insightful and groovy. Live he covers some of the greatest writers of the 20th century.
